FAQ

Below are the answers to some of our Frequently Asked Questions:

Ordering

Q. How do I order?

A. You can browse the items on the site by clicking on the menus on the left hand side. You can also search for the products you are looking for by typing the items name or keyword in the ‘Search’ box. When you find the items you wish to buy, you can click ‘buy now’ and it will be added to your Shopping Basket. When you have finished shopping, click on ‘Checkout’ which will then ask you to check the list of items you are ordering and enter your details, delivery address and payment details.

Q. What happens when I place my order?

A. Once we receive the details of your order we will ensure that payment has gone through and package your order up to be dispatched with your receipt.

Q. How do I pay for my order?

A. The site is set up to take payment details via a secure internet connection by credit/debit card. If you do not wish to pay this way, you can request that we can ring you to take credit/debit card details over the phone, or you can pay by cheque. However, we are not able to send any goods until payment is received.

Q. Do I have to order over the internet or can I order over the phone?

A. Our website is set up so that anything on here may be purchased over the internet. However, our staff are available 8.00-5.00 Monday to Friday to help with any queries or to assist you should you wish to order over the telephone.

Q. Is there a minimum or maximum order?

A. No, you can order as much or as little as you like. However, there is a delivery charge payable on all orders.

Q. Are all of your items in stock?

A. We keep a large quantity of stock and our stock levels are automatically updated on our website each time a customer places an order. Therefore, you are only able to place items in your basket if they are in stock. In the unlikely event that any of our items are out of stock, we will notify you by phone or email to give you an estimate of the time delay and discuss the options available. We can either send the rest of the order out with the missing item(s) to follow, replace the item with something similar or cancel the item if you need it sooner than we can deliver it.

Q. What if I cannot find what I am looking for?

A. If there is anything that you wish to have for your event but cannot find on our website then please contact us through email or phone. We will then be able to hopefully obtain the item for you, offer possible alternatives or point you in the right direction.

Delivery

Q. How long before my items are delivered?

A. As soon as your order is processed, we will aim to dispatch it immediately. All orders received before 12.00pm for the UK should arrive next day via a courier. Please note that the package must be signed for otherwise the courier will not leave it. For further information please see our Delivery Information page.

Q. How much is the delivery charge?

A. For delivery charges Click Here

Q. What if I want a refund or exchange?

A. We want you to be completely satisfied with your order. Therefore, if this is not the case or you simply change your mind, please contact us within 48 hours either by phone or email giving your name, invoice number, the item numbers you will be returning and a description of why you are returning them. We will give you a returns number to put with the items and the address to send them to and we will gladly provide a full refund or an exchange (excluding postage and packaging).

Q. What if the goods are damaged?

A. We take great care to ensure that all items are in perfect condition when they are despatched. In the unlikely event that any part of your order is damaged in transit, please contact us immediately and return the items to us in their original packaging. We will then give you an immediate exchange or a refund (as well as a refund of the return postage and packaging costs). For full details please see Terms & Conditions page

Helium and Balloons

Q. How long will my balloons stay inflated for?

A. Our latex balloons will remain inflated for approximately 10-12 hours. Our foil balloons will remain inflated for approximately 5-7 days

Q. How many balloons will my helium cylinder fill?

A. The amount will depend on the size and shape of the balloons as well as the size of the cylinder. Please refer to the chart on the helium page for an approximate number of fills. Click here for Cylinder Fill chart

Q. How do I correctly use my helium cylinder?

A. Our cylinders come in two different types, depending on size.

PT10- Screw In Inflator:

1. Screw the inflator firmly onto cylinder valve outlet in a clockwise motion. The inflator must be screwed in until hand tight.
2. Open the cylinder valve by slowly turning the hand-operated valve on the top of the bottle anticlockwise.
3. Put the neck of the balloon over the rubber nozzle, hold the balloon firmly and gently pull the nozzle backwards to inflate balloon. Release when desired size reached, remove balloon and tie knot in balloon. N.B If using twitchets or stoppers, ensure the pointed end is attached and twitchet is entered into balloon before inflating.
4. Close the cylinder valve when balloon filling is completed by turning hand wheel clockwise. Then purge remaining pressure from the valve by pulling the inflator back as stated above.

5. The inflator should now be free to unscrew, and may now be returned with the cylinder. Note, the inflator will not unscrew unless the pressure has been released.

N10, N20, N30- Snap On Inflator:

The N- Bottles come with a gauge that will allow you to monitor your helium use as you inflate your balloons. For example, when you have used a quarter of your helium you can check how many of your balloons have been used. If you have used more than a quarter of them then it is likely that you are inflating the balloons too large, and can readjust your inflation size. Similarly, if you have used less than a quarter then it allows you the opportunity to increase the size of some of your remaining balloons should you wish to. Please ensure the gauge is showing ‘full’ when you receive the cylinder.

1. Snap the inflator into the cylinder.
2. Open the cylinder valve by slowly turning the hand operated valve on the back of the bottle anticlockwise.
Then purge remaining pressure from the valve by pulling the inflator back as stated above
5. The inflator should now be free to remove, and may now be returned with the cylinder. Pull back on the connection where it joins to the cylinder and remove. Note, the inflator will not unscrew unless the pressure has been released.

Safety Precautions - Do's and Dont's

DO:

Please read, understand and observe the safety precautions on the cylinder neck label and the warning on the side of the cylinder.
Always store cylinders in a well ventilated area and in an upright position so that they cannot be tipped or pushed over.
Transport cylinders only in a well ventilated truck.
Always use a regulator designed for balloon filling operations.
Call us immediately if questions arise or if more information is needed.
Check all connections for leaks before filling balloons.
Close the cylinder valve after each use and when the cylinder is empty.

DON’T:

Do not leave cylinder unattended.
Do not place cylinder where it could come into contact with an electrical circuit.
Do not store cylinder in direct sunlight or near sources of radiant heat.
Do not use cylinders as rollers.
Do not allow cylinders to drop or strike together violently.
Do not allow anyone to breathe helium from cylinders or from filled balloons. Helium is an asphyxiate.
Do not allow children or any unauthorised persons to handle cylinders or use balloon filling equipment.
Do not transport the cylinder with the inflator attached, as this will likely cause damage and will be charged for.
If gas leaks from any part of equipment, do not attempt to rectify the fault, but inform The Party Starts Here

Q. How long do I get to keep the cylinder for?

A. A collection date will be agreed before the cylinder is dispatched but the free hire on the inflator and cylinder is six days from the day the package is received. A charge of £8.58 per month or part month for the cylinder and £2.00 per week for the inflator will be applied for rental beyond the six days.

Q. Where can I use my helium cylinder?

A. The helium cylinders can be used in most public places but in all cases it is advised that you contact the venue prior to ordering your cylinder to confirm this. The N-Bottles have the necessary health and safety printed on the side of the cylinder should this be required.

Balloon Races

Q. How does a balloon race work?

A. A balloon race is an excellent way for schools, charities and other organisation to fundraise. In the case of a school, for example, staff, pupils and friends of the school are given Balloon Race Labels to sell. These are stamped with the name and address of your school. The buyer will write his/her name in the appropriate place on the label.
On the day of the event the labels are attached to helium filled balloons which are then released from the balloon net. Each balloon label has a request that the finder should post it back to the school. Prizes are given to those people whose balloon labels are returned from furthest away.

Q. How long will it take to blow the balloons up?

A. A team of three people can blow up approximately 150-200 balloons an hour.

Q. How much do I sell the tickets for?

A. You can sell the tickets for as much or as little as you like, but most Balloon Race labels are normally sold for £1.00. This will also depend on what prizes are on offer and how many labels each pupil is given to sell.

Q. How do I get people to buy the tickets?

A. It is important to start selling the tickets early. A good 1st prize will encourage people to buy more tickets, and it is always a good idea to offer a prize to the person who sells the most tickets. Contacting the local press to raise awareness of your race will also increase ticket sales.

Q. Is it environmentally friendly?

A. All of our balloons are 100% biodegradable latex and our race labels made from paper. It is important not to use string, ribbon or twitchet valves, all of which are not environmentally friendly. For releases of 5000 balloons or over, you will also need permission from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The CAA can be contacted on 020 7453 6599, and requires at least 28 days notice.
